2012 SCC Golf Championship is May 29

The 2012 SCC Golf Championship will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at the Racebrook Country Club in Orange (par-71, 6,403 yards).  Tee off time is 8 a.m.

Shelton is the defending SCC champion.

Shelton Captures 2011 Golf Title

1st ever league title for the Gaels

Shelton, led by medalist James Tate (+5, 76) captured its first-ever SCC golf championship.   The Gaels (317) finished ahead of Amity (332), Notre Dame (333) and co-defending champion Fairfield Prep (334).

In addition to Tate's 76, Matt Mastronardi (Fairfield Prep) shot a 77, while four players shots a +7 (78) and earned All-SCC honors, including Gil Lassen (Cheshire), Anthony Astorino (Notre Dame), Brett Marieb (Amity) and Alex Marieb (Amity).  Geoff Vartelas (Xavier) shot a +8 (79).

The 2011 SCC Golf Championship was played at Racebrook Country Club in Orange, a par-71 course (6,403 yards).

Amity (Housatonic), Fairfield Prep (Quinnipiac), Hand (Hammonasset) and East Haven (Oronoque) earned automatic berths to the 2011 championship by virtue of their division titles.   Notre Dame, Shelton, Xavier, Cheshire and Hamden earned the five wildcard berths.

Prep/Cheshire Share SCC Championship

The 2010 SCC Golf Championship was held on Tuesday, May 25 at the Brooklawn Country Club (par-71, 6,711 yards) in Fairfield.  It was the first time in the league's 16-year history the championship was held outside of New Haven (1995-99 at Yale Golf Course, 2000-2009 at New Haven Country Club). XAVIER WINS 2008 SCC GOLF TITLE

The 2008 SCC Golf Championship was held on Tuesday, May 20 at the New Haven Country Club (par 71, 6062 yards)... Lyman Hall's Chris Gatcomb shot a +1 (72) to earn medalist honors... Xavier (322) narrowly defeated four-time defending champion Fairfield Prep (323) and Cheshire (324) for the team title.

Fairfield Prep Captures

Fourth Straight SCC Golf Championship

(5-22-07) -- Paced by the strong individual efforts of medalist Tim Murphy and three All-Southern Connecticut Conference performers, the Fairfield Prep boys' golf team won its fourth consecutive SCC championship at the New Haven Country Club (par 71, 6062 yards). The Jesuits shot a sparkling 304 to win the title by 17 strokes. It was the fourth straight SCC championship for Fairfield Prep and eighth in program history. Xavier was the runner-up with a 321.

Three-Peat for Fairfield Prep

Jesuits Earn Third Straight SCC Title

5/23/06 - Fairfield Prep captured its third straight SCC Golf title with a dominating performance at the 2006 championships which were held at the New Haven Country Club (par 71, 6,602 yards).

The Jesuits totaled a team score of 319, easily outdistancing runner-up Notre Dame (329) and third-place Shelton (331). Leading the way for Fairfield Prep was Mike Baldwin, who both shot seven-over 78.

Notre Dame's Tom Valentino earned medalist honors with a five-over 76, while Xavier's Bob Fox shot six-over (77).

2005 Recap

Hand's Chris Bushnell Wins Division III Golf Title
6/6/05 -- Hand's Chris Bushnell shot an even-par 72 to win the Division III boy's golf title at Timberlin Golf Course in Berlin. Bushnell, a 2005 All-SCC honoree, edged Waterford's Andrew Cavasiono by two strokes.

In the final team standings, Hand placed second (318) finishing just two strokes behind Rocky Hill (318). Sheehan finished 16th (359).

In the Division II championships at Chippanee Golf Course in Bristol, SCC members Guilford, Lyman Hall and Notre Dame finished in a tie for 14th place (337), while Branford placed 17th (342).


Fairfield Prep Defends SCC Title
5/25/05 -- Fairfield Prep captured its second straight SCC Golf title with a dominating performance at the 2005 championships which were held at the New Haven Country Club (par 71, 6,602 yards).

The Jesuits totaled a team score of 315, easily outdistancing runner-up Xavier (325) and third-place Cheshire (330). Leading the way for Fairfield Prep were Anthony Custardo and Tim Murphy, who both shot six-over 77.

Xavier's Tim Buczek earned medalist honors with a five-over 76.
