Hand Captures 2007 SCC Girls Lacrosse Championship
(5-29-07) -- The top-seeded Daniel Hand girls’ lacrosse team broke a 3-3 tie midway through the second half and scored the final four goals of the game to claim the 2007 Southern Connecticut Conference championship with a 7-3 victory over second-seeded Branford (11-7-1)
Erin Flanagan scored a game-high three goals for the Tigers (16-3),who claimed their sixth SCC tournament title. It was the second time in three years that Hand and Branford had faced each other in the championship contest. Hand’s Becky Lutz earned Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

2005 Review
Hand and Mercy Capture SCC Girls Lacrosse Titles
5/31/05 --Hand (Division I) and Mercy (Division II)
each won their championship games to earn SCC girls
lacrosse titles. The games were played at Finn Stadium
on the campus of Shelton High School.
In the Division I title game, third-seeded Hand (15-3)
avenged a regular-season loss to Branford and defeated
the Hornets, 13-6, to take the championship. The
Tigers took a 8-4 halftime lead and cruised to
victory. Courtney Cronin (5 goals) and Nina Sperry (4
goals, 1 assist) accounted for nine of the Tigers' 13
goals. Caitlyn Buckanavage led Branford (16-1-1) with
three goals. It is Hand's first title since 2000, and
their SCC-best fifth overall.
Mercy (11-6) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and rolled to a
17-9 win over Sacred Heart Academy in the Division II
title game. Mercy's Kaitlyn Janicki led the way with a
game-high six goals and added one assist, while
teammate Kaitlin DelCiampo added three goals and one
assist. Kristianna Sciarra led SHA (8-7-1) with four
goals and one assist. It is Mercy's second straight
Division II title, and their third SCC title overall.
