8/25/04 - The Southern Connecticut Conference Board of Governors has approved a four-divisional alignment for the sport of football.
The four divisions will be named Division I West, Division I East, Division II West, and Division II East. Each division will have a 15-player All-Star team selected by the head coaches.
The league's Scheduling Committee, chaired by Guilford Athletic Director Chip Dorwin, was satisfied with the new alignment.
"The four-divisional format for football allowed for better scheduling and equity," Dorwin explained. "The important point is that each school can look at their schedules and be assured they can be competitive in the majority of their games."
The four-divisional format will have a two-year cycle. During this time, the Scheduling Committee will collect and analyze data and make additional recommendations as necessary.
DIVISION I WEST - Shelton, Fairfield Prep, Hamden, Xavier, and Amity
DIVISION I EAST - West Haven, Cheshire, Notre Dame, Wilbur Cross, and Daniel Hand
DIVISION II WEST - Branford, Hillhouse, Lyman Hall, Guilford, and Jonathan Law
DIVISION II EAST - East Haven, North Haven, Sheehan, Foran, and Derby
