90 SCC Student-Athletes Named to New Haven Register’s Winter Sports All-Area Teams

5/3/05

The Southern Connecticut Conference was well-represented on the various 2005 winter sports All-Area Teams, as selected by the sports department staff of the New Haven Register. A total of 90 student-athletes earned All-Area status.

In addition, six student-athletes earned MVP honors in their respective sport, while eight individuals earned Coach of the Year accolades.

SCC member-schools fared well in the winter season. 41 teams qualified for CIAC winter sport playoff competition in girls and boys basketball, and ice hockey. During the winter season, SCC teams won a total of seven state championships. Six additional teams earned runner-up status in CIAC state competition during the winter campaign. Since the league's inception in 1994, SCC schools have now won 214 state championships.
