FIELD HOCKEY - Three SCC Teams Ranked in Top 10 in Final 2004 Connecticut Coaches Poll
1/16/05 -- Three SCC teams ranked in the top ten in the final 2004 Connecticut Field Hockey Coaches Poll.
Branford, which captured the Class M state championship, finished in a tie for second (with Granby - 138 points) behind Fairfield Warde (17-2-0-1), who had 146 points. The Hornets, who shared the 2004 SCC title with Hand, defeated Darien, 3-1, in the title game which was played at Trinity College on November 20. It was the Hornets’ third state championship in the last four seasons.
Hand (15-3-1) was ranked seventh in the poll. The Tigers reached the Class M semifinals before losing to Darien, 2-1.
Guilford (14-4-1) was ranked ninth. The Indians reached the Class LL semifinals before falling to eventual champion Fairfield Warde, 4-1.
