Just over 370 student leaders participated in the 4th Annual SCC Student Leadership Conference on November 22.
The 4th Annual Southern Connecticut Conference “Student Leadership Conference” was held on Tuesday, November 22 on the campus of Quinnipiac University. Over 370 student-leaders from the conference’s 23 member schools participated in the event.
The goal of the “SCC Student Leadership Conference” is to impart of a sense of obligation and commitment upon the students to continue and enhance their roles as leaders and use these roles to better their surrounding environments. The theme of the 2005 conference was “Finding Leade rship.”
A keynote address was given by Ms. Anne Parmenter. Ms. Parmenter shared stories from her recent mountain climbing expeditions, most recently in 2004 when she climbed Mount Everest, and reflect on various attributes of leadership and communication in her journeys. After the keynote address, the student-leaders will break up into smaller group discussing various leadership-related topics.
The event sponsor was Bank of America. Bank of America's Market President Jeff Klaus participated in the conference and even hosted a breakout session for the faculty advisors.

2004 Recap
Under the direction of Ms. Arlene Salvati, assistant principal at Hamden High School, the third annual SCC Leadership Conference was held on November 23 on the campus of Quinnipiac University. The turn-out was fabulous!
Nearly 250 students from 18 different SCC schools participated in the event. In addition to a variety of small break-out sessions and activities, the students listed to an impressive guest speaker, Ms. Anna Mahon.
Ms. Mahon, who is an English teacher at Amity Regional High School, is also a world-class athlete (hammer throw) who recently participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Anna provided the student leaders with a first-hand lesson on her training and preparation for the Olympic Games as well as thoughtful remarks on leadership and success.
After the guest speaker, the participants broke out into smaller, more intimate break-out sessions to discuss various leadership topics and issues. |
