2021 SCC Member School Spring Sports Spectator Policies

Southern Connecticut Conference Spring Sports Member School Spectator Policies – as of April 7, 2021

Please note: 

SCC boys volleyball teams will play teams from ECC and SWC.  Please click on their league name for spectator policies

SCC girls and boys lacrosse teams will play teams from FCIAC and Shoreline Conference.  Please click on their league name for spectator policies.

 

AMITY REGIONAL

Outdoor events will have a maximum capacity of 200 spectators. Visitor fans are allowed to outdoor events. No golf spectators are allowed.

Outdoor Events (baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis):

1.     ALL guests must wear a mask and observe all related COVID precautions at all times.

2.     Guests MUST sit a MINIMUM 6ft. apart at all times. Family members may sit together.

3.     When in the bleachers, guests must sit on the seats marked with blue tape or a sticker.

4.     There will be no concessions and no eating or drinking during our events.

 

Indoor Procedures (boys volleyball):

1.     Each HOME student-athlete is allowed 2 spectators.

2.     Guests must be on the guest list and present a picture ID prior to entering the spectator area.

3.     ALL guests must wear a mask and observe all related COVID precautions at all times.

4.     Guests MUST sit a MINIMUM 6ft. apart at all times. Family members may sit together.

5.     When in the bleachers, guests must sit on the seats marked with blue tape or a sticker.

6.     NO visiting team spectators will be allowed.

7.     ALL guests must complete the COVID screening sheet printed and handed into game personnel prior to entering the event.

8.     There will be no concessions and no eating or drinking during our events.

 

BRANFORD

Branford High School will allow spectators with the following conditions:

● All spectators must wear a face covering while attending any BHS spring athletic event.

● All spectators must remain socially distant from others including all student-athletes and coaches.

● All spectators must leave all athletic events at the conclusion of the competition.

 

CHESHIRE

 For regular Season contests

Outside events:  Lacrosse, Track/Field

- 2 family members per athlete Home and visitor

- Must wear masks at all times and sit in socially distanced markings (Main stadium).

- Must be free of COVID symptoms

- Food and drink not allowed

- No spectators on the playing surface at any time.

-Spectators must leave the stadium at the conclusion of the contest

- Lacrosse contests on the main stadium will be broadcast over the NFHS Network

 Outside events: Baseball, Softball, Tennis

- 2 family members per athlete Home and visitor

- Must wear masks at all times and sit socially distanced.

- You may bring your own chair but remain seated socially distanced

- Must be free of COVID symptoms

- Food and drink not allowed

- No spectators on the playing surface at any time.

-Spectators must leave the stadium/ courts at the conclusion of the contest

 

Indoor event: Boys Volleyball - NO VISITING SPECTATORS

2 family members per athlete- Home spectators only

 - Must wear masks at all times and sit at the marked spaces socially distanced in the bleachers

 - Must abide by COVID policies that will be posted and be symptom-free

- No food or drink in the gym

- Spectators not allowed on the court at any time

- Must clear the gym at the conclusion of the contest

-Contests will be broadcast on the NFHS network

 

DANIEL HAND

Outside events:  Lacrosse, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Track/Field (No Visiting Spectators)

2 family members per athlete for Home events only

- Must wear masks at all times and sit socially distanced.

-No seating will be available on the Daniel Hand/Polson campus

- Must abide by COVID policies that will be posted and be     symptom-free

- Softball parents must wear mask, provide their own chair, and sit socially distanced above the field.

- Tennis spectators must wear masks, provide their own chair, and sit socially distanced on the bank

- Lacrosse contests at Surf Club. Must wear masks. They can sit in bleacher or stand around the outside of the field socially distanced. Lacrosse contests at Daniel Hand, must wear masks, no spectating on the field, social distancing is required

-Contests at Surf Club will be broadcast on the NFHS network

 

Indoor event ( Boys Volleyball)  ( No Visiting Spectators)

2 family members per athlete- Home spectators only

 - Must wear masks at all times and sit at the marked spaces socially distanced in the bleachers

 - Must abide by COVID policies that will be posted and be symptom-free  

-Contests will be broadcast on the NFHS network

 

EAST HAVEN

The spectator policy for East Haven High school will be 50% capacity at all venues. All spectators must wear a mask at all times and practice social distancing of 6' or more at all times. Minimal bleachers will be open to spectators, to allow for extended bleacher seating for Baseball & Softball players. We encourage all spectators for baseball, softball and tennis to bring their own chairs.

 

FAIRFIELD PREP

For the month of April, Fairfield Prep will not be allowing visiting fans onto Fairfield University’s Campus per the University rule for their varsity sports.  This applies to Varsity Tennis, Varsity Baseball and Freshman-Varsity Lacrosse.

Visiting parents are allowed at Prep’s freshman and JV baseball games on town fields.

 

GUILFORD

Guilford will limit spectators in accordance to the DECD sector rules for outdoor sporting events. We encourage spectators to bring their own chair and spread out while viewing a contest. Minimum space of six feet is required at all times. When on Guilford High School grounds a face covering is required at all times. We ask that you do not interact with players, coaches, officials and other spectators. At the conclusion of the event we ask all spectators to leave the grounds promptly.

 

HAMDEN

Hamden will have a 50% capacity limit for our games this spring and allow both home and away fans.  Spectators will be required to be in a mask and sit socially distanced of at least 6 feet apart from those not in your immediate household.  

Games played at Turf Field 2 (Baseball Field) will have different seating configurations.  On Turf Field 2 the hill will be open to view games as well as both sets of bleachers.  The entrance to the hill will be near the press box.  There will be no field level viewing near the batter's box since the dugouts will be extended to those areas. 

On the softball field very limited seating will be available behind home plate.  We are asking parents to view the games from either left field or sit out in the parking lot area down the right field line outside of the road.   We will have at least a ten foot line behind home plate that no one should be in front of during a game. 

For matches at the tennis courts parents can watch from the parking lot/outside the fence and should remain away from student athletes.   

Games at sub-varsity fields Legion, HMS or Bassett have less bleacher space if any at all and spectators will need to socially distance in a safe area while watching the game.  Spectators are advised to bring their own chairs.

 

MERCY

Tennis at Wesleyan (Vine Street)

Two spectators per athlete for HOME team only. Spectators must always wear masks.

All other Sports

Three spectators per athlete HOME and AWAY. Spectators must always wear masks.

 

MILFORD (FORAN/JONATHAN LAW/LAURALTON HALL

All spectators, either home or away, attending the competition will adhere to all expectations and requirements pertaining to COVID-19 listed below.

  • Attendees will not be permitted into the venue early.  Permitted arrival times will be provided in the communications to athletes and attendees.  
  • Wearing of a mask or cloth face covering is required for everyone in attendance before, during, and after the competition. 
  • Mask or covering must cover the mouth and nose the entire time. Any person who refuses to wear a mask may be denied entry to the competition unless they state they have a valid medical reason. 
  • Six-foot social distancing will be adhered to by all attendees unless they are immediate family members.
  • Common areas and congestion points will be marked via ground markings and/or traffic cones for visual cues.  
  • To comply with the six-foot spacing, handshaking, hugs and other physical contact should not occur.
  • Attendees will be directed to designated seating areas by event personnel to allow for adequate distancing during the process. 
  • No food or drink allowed. 
  • Restroom availability will be limited. 
  • Athletes and attendees shall promptly depart school property in an orderly fashion. 
  • Gathering on campus prior to or after the competition is not permitted.

NEW HAVEN (Wilbur Cross, Hillhouse, Career Magnet)

All spring sports, two spectators per home and visiting student-athlete will be allowed.  Spectators must wear masks.

 

NORTH HAVEN

In a continuous effort to stay safe and minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Superintendent of North Haven Public Schools has approved the Spring Spectator Plan.

In accordance with the CIAC recommendation to follow the DECD Sector Rules for outdoor sporting events, effective April 2, 2021, all spectators are permitted up to 50% facility capacity. 

All spectators must remain masked and maintain social distance from non-household members at all times.

Members of the media with appropriate credentials will only be permitted to attend with advanced notice to and approval by the athletic director and will operate in areas on site determined by the athletic director.

North Haven will not have livestream capabilities for athletic events held at any North Haven HOME events.

 

NOTRE DAME-WH

Tennis - no visiting spectators 

Baseball - home and away families are allowed

 Lacrosse - home and away families are allowed 

Outdoor track - home and away families are allowed

Golf - no spectators allowed

 

SACRED HEART ACADEMY

SHA will allow home and away spectators for all sports.  All spectators must be masked, socially distanced and bring their own chairs.

 

SHELTON

Outside events: Baseball, Softball, Tennis:

- Both home and away spectators allowed

- Must wear masks at all times and sit socially distanced

- Softball and baseball may sit along the outfield in provided bleacher or own chairs socially distanced and in a mask

- Tennis spectators must provide their own chair and sit socially distanced and in a mask

- Off site baseball, and tennis must follow same procedures (Nike site, East Village Park, Riverview Park, SIS Fields)

- No Golf spectators allowed at course

 

Outside events Finn Stadium: Lacrosse, Track & Field:

- Both home and away spectators allowed, no more than 50% capacity (must sign-in for contact tracing records)

- Admission will be charged for Lacrosse games

- Must wear masks at all times and sit socially distanced in stands

- No concessions available

- **Lacrosse contests will be broadcast on the NFHS network

 

Indoor event Murray Gymnasium (Boys Volleyball)

 - 2 parents per athlete- HOME spectators only, up to 25 SHS students (increase to 4/player after first two weeks)

 - Must wear masks at all times and sit in the bleachers socially distanced

 - Admission will be charged for Volleyball games 

 - No concessions available 

 **Contests will be broadcast on the NFHS network

 

LYMAN HALL/SHEEHAN (WALLINGFORD)

In accordance with the CIAC recommendation to follow the DECD Sector Rules for outdoor sporting events, effective April 2, 2021, spectators are permitted up to 50% facility capacity.

All spectators must remain masked and maintain a social distance (6ft) from non-household members at all times.

Members of the media with appropriate credentials will only be permitted to attend with advanced notice to and approval by the athletic director and will operate in areas on site determined by the athletic director. 

Both Sheehan and Lyman Hall have live stream capabilities for athletic events held on the turf via NFHS Network (subscription rates apply).  

 

WEST HAVEN

The spectator policy for West Haven High school will be 50% capacity at all venues. All spectators must wear a mask at all time. Spectators must practice social distancing at all time. Some bleachers in a few areas will be closed to spectators, so we can extend the bench area for players. We encourage all spectators for baseball, softball and tennis to bring their own chair.

XAVIER

All Outdoor Sports at Xavier High School

Two spectators per athlete HOME and AWAY. All games that take place on the turf field will be livestreamed through the NFHS Network. Spectators at baseball games at Xavier High School will be permitted behind the fence in the outfield only.  Spectators are asked to remain socially distant and masked at all times.

Baseball at Palmer Field:  Two spectators per athlete HOME and AWAY.  Spectators are asked to remain socially distant and masked at all times.

Tennis at Vine Street: Two spectators per athlete for HOME team only.  Spectators are asked to remain socially distant and masked at all times.

Volleyball at Xavier: Two spectators per athlete for HOME team only.  Spectators are to be socially distant and masked at all times.  Games will be livestreamed through YouTube.
