Two SCC teams - Class LL state champion Xavier (13-0) and Class L champion Hand (13-0) - finished 1-2 in all three state football polls.  In addition, Class L quarterfinalist Notre Dame (8-3) also finished in the top 10, while Class L quarterfinalist North Haven (9-2) and West Haven (7-3) also received votes.

It is the second straight year Xavier has garnered the state's number-one ranking.   It is also the third straight year a SCC team (Notre Dame, 2009) has finished as the state's top-ranked team.  The SCC has won six state championships in the last three years - most of any league in the state of Connecticut.

Xavier captured the Class LL state title with a dominating 42-7 victory over Staples on Saturday evening at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.  The Falcons outscored their three playoff opponents (131-27).   Hand captured the Class L title that same day with an impressive 34-10 victory over New Canaan.  The Tigers, who defeated previously undefeated Masuk, 35-14, in the semifinals, won its fourth state title since joining the SCC in 1994.
